Hot Fried Update

Alligator Boy
...all must be going well if we haven't been posting bipolar medical stuff over here. The heat affects both Katee and Charlie because of the meds they are taking.

Katee's getting ready for another semester at LSUS. She and Auguste are still engaged. They are such a old married acting couple.

Charlie is frothy with painting and refinishing projects. He still has occasional trouble with frenzied spending. It seems to come with his type of bipolar.

The above picture has nothing to do with bipolar. It's part of an exhibit at artspace in downtown Shreveport. (Kathryn)

Deeeeee-stress

DDRin' Katee Feet

Katee started at LSUS last month. She did well last semester at BPCC. Her four classes meet Monday through Thursday.

That gives her three days to de-stress. She's been doing DDR for exercise.

Gas

Why Do I Always Get to Buy the Boring foods?

"I'm dying of gas here! Don't buy any more fibery things. I'm not eating them." Charlie said. I mumbled something like limited budget and fiber being filling and good for you. He didn't believe me. But when you take as many meds as he does, your digestive system slows down and good foods with fiber are a must.

He called his doctor to complain about the high amounts of gas he seems to be producing lately. And the doctor said "Fiber good. Fat bad." At least he didn't have to pay for an office visit to get the same message I've been saying for years. My work here is done.

RX

Charlie Waits for Dr. Henry

It's been a week (actually a couple of weeks) of medical emergencies at the F-U house.

This morning Charlie went to Dr. Henry for a prescription for Chantix so he can stop smoking.

I'll save for a later post these items: my on the job injury and emergency room visit and Charlie's emergency room visit because he couldn't breathe.

New Hair New School Year

Hers Got Short Hairs

Katee is going back to school next week. She's taking three classes online and then will go to Bossier Parish Community College Wednesday nights for her fourth class.

Taking classes online seems to help with the stress. And as we all know folks with bipolar disorder don't handle stress well.

Breathe

Does anyone stick to using those CPAP machines? Charlie has one on the floor of his side of the closet. He hasn't used it in years.

He tried Breathe Right strips last night even though I brought home the large size and he insisted his nose would be in the small/medium range.

If managing bipolar means having good sleep hygiene it'll be interesting to see if his sleep quality and hours of sleep get better.

We'll keep you posted.
