The Doctor Will See You Now

The thyroid test was a day long ordeal and no one explained that Charlie would need to be back at the hospital at regular intervals through out a 24 hour period.

On the bright side he seemed a little manic after it was over -- tapping me on the leg when we were in the Blazer going to the DMV and even flirting with the girl behind the counter once we got there.

A day later the doctor's office called and said the doctor wanted to see him bright and early on January 2. "That can't be good."

"Why?" I asked.

"If everything was okay he wouldn't need to see me."

All Glowy Inside

Ting Ting Charlie

Charlie swallowed a radioactive capsule this morning and is in the middle of his 123 IODINE THYROID UPTAKE AND SCAN. I had to rush a Mirapex to him because his shaky leg thing was kicking in and he couldn't lie still for the tests.

About the picture: It has nothing to do with the thyroid test. Charlie is wearing a Ting Ting Head Massager on his head.

Charlie's Thyroid

Here it is days before Christmas and we're finally moving along with tests for Charlie to see about his thyroid. It was back in October when bloodwork revealed something might be wrong.

According to the sheet of paper he brought home from the doctor a couple of weeks ago he has to be at the hospital at 8:15 in the morning for a thyroid ultrasound and a thyroid scan and uptake.

It looks like they suspect he may be hyperthyroid. Interestly, many of the symptoms sound a lot like bipolar symptoms: nervous or irritable, having difficulty getting to sleep, staying asleep, or going back to sleep after awakening in the middle of the night, feeling fatigued or exhausted, depressed, restless or anxious, and panic attacks. Day One on the Job

Katee's First Day of work small

Katee took her last final Tuesday. And then drove home from work (with a fully licensed driver in the front seat). Hurrah! She got the job. I posted about the interview in the last entry.

She refused to let me take a picture of her -- an official "FIRST DAY OF WORK" like a "FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL" so I had to be sneaky and just shoot her cool work shirt. Looks like cotton to me, I'm jealous 'cause I work in polyester. (Kathryn)

Job Interviews

Katee and Charlie Thanksgiving 06

How well are the meds working for Charlie and Katee? Both of them have job interviews this week. As the saying goes we'll keep ya posted. (Kathryn)
